This is the biggest (in number of songs) compilation we've ever made, this one is the number six
corresponding with part of the february uploads. This time is probably the Blackest compilation, but as always there is place for viking and folk metal.
It has been a hard work, to make this, mostly of the bands are commonly unknown and i have to listen carefully their songs for long time.

Maybe some people would say they'd chosen different song, for all of them: Fuck you! This is my compilation, not yours or a easy to make comp. with all the famous bands. Anyway I said several times and write there that you could recommend me songs (and nobody told me any, thanks...)now is too late for that so stay in silence. Anyway I've never need others help, this wont be a exception.

The best songs for me are Kampfar - Ravenheart, i really love that song, and of course the mythical immortal theme also draugr is an excellent band, riger, vreid and diamond eyed princess aren't less.

As always my wish is that this comp will serve to let you know bands other way you've never hear. And if you like one song, try to download the full disc at least ;)

In the Spring months of 1997 the wish to bring back the days of SUMMONING's "Minas Morgul" masterpiece grew in the brains of Martin Wiese and Florian Dammasch, two 17-year-old guys, crazy for music. Enchanted by the fantastic Fantasy Black Metal sounds of the Austrian gods and armed with 12 years of playing the piano and several other instruments, as well as with a striking talent in creating music, Martin decided to compose a kind of homage to the art of Protector and Silenius. Florian became something like a "manager", as he felt responsible for the project and was a part of the enterprise since the beginning.The name of the band is the name of most beautiful virgin during Arthur's reign.
Martin and Florian also had a side-project called Old Man's Chicken.

Numen - Galdutako Itxaropen Eresia

Originally formed in 1997, Numen is an extreme music band coming from the Basque Country. They play black metal with some influences of the folk and traditional music of their land. All lyrics are written in euskera, their mother tongue, and they tell about old traditions, legends and mythology, always with a strong feeling against Christianity.

Enslaved - Blodhemn

Enslaved is a metal band from Haugesund, Norway. Their style has changed over the years. Originally being an old-school Black/Viking Metal act, they now perform a more experimental form of progressive black metal with viking influences. The name was inspired by an Immortal demo track, Enslaved In Rot.

Enslaved was formed in 1991, by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson. Joined by drummer Trym Torsson, they did their first demo in the summer of 1992.

Mas de un experto en el tema opina que su disco "Blodhemn" es de los tres mejores de la historia del viking. Yo no me atrevería a asegurarlo.

this album has much more of a "Swedish Black Metal" feel, opting for fast and vicious songs as opposed to the progressive feel that their albums usually have. The production, though cleaner, is a bit more sterile and digital, overly compressed and lacking dynamics. This is the only Enslaved album recorded and produced at the Abyss studio.

Vintersorg - Solens Rötter

Banda de folk / viking metal, formada en 1994 en Skellefteå, Suecia. La temática de sus letras abarca tópicos como fantasía, mitología, naturaleza, cosmos y metafísica. El nombre de la banda se traduce como "Dolor de Invierno" pero en realidad es tomado de la serie Isfolket de Margit Sandemo, donde el personaje es el hijo de un líder pagano.
Su sonido ha variado mucho con los años, desde el folk a un sonido mucho más experimental.
Solens Rötter es el sexto album de la banda, editado el 27 de abril de 2007 por Napalm Records. Su título puede traducirse como "Raíces del Sol" u "Orígenes del Sol". Regresa a sus raíces folk metal, dejando un poco de lado el sonido progresivo de sus dos albumes anteriores.

Graveworm is a melodic black metal band with extremely heavy influences from gothic metal, doom metal (on older albums) and death metal (on two newer ones). Macabre is a death metal band from the USA. They were formed in 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, and have never had a line-up change (Corporate Death - guitars, vocals ; Nefarious - bass guitar, vocals ; Dennis The Menace - drums). They blend thrash metal, death metal, and grindcore (sometimes with nursery rhymes and folk melodies) to form their own unique style dubbed murder metal (this album is completely melodic death). Lyrically, they have a strong focus on serial killers, mass murderers and a touch of sick gore humor. Most lyrics are based upon true stories and are about real infamous personalities. They also have a side project called the Macabre Minstrels that play acoustic camp fire songs. Their current label is Decomposed Records.

Enslaved is a metal band from Haugesund, Norway. Their style has changed over the years. Originally being an old-school Black/Viking Metal act, they now perform a more experimental form of progressive black metal with viking influences. The name was inspired by an Immortal demo track, Enslaved In Rot.

Enslaved was formed in 1991, by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson. Joined by drummer Trym Torsson, they did their first demo in the summer of 1992.

Withered was formed in the early summer of 2003 in Atlanta, GA. Chris and Mike, founding and current members of the grindcore/crust punk band Social Infestation, wanted to explore extreme music and create something with black metal overtones and dramatic guitar melodies while still clinging to their punk and grind roots. They needed an unrelenting percussion force to accomplish this so they called upon long time friend and accomplished drummer, Wes Kever (ex puaka balava). The three piece began to write and discovered what kind of band Withered was going to become.

Velvet Cacoon is a so-called artist collective and multi-genre band from Portland, Oregon, USA. The group allegedly explored musical styles ranging from black metal to dark ambient, and was somewhat shrouded in mystery due to the fact that its members entered the public forum by creating and propagating various bizarre rumours about themselves and their music. According to members, the band was formed in 1996, although no public material was seen until 2002. Due to the amount of confusion surrounding the group and the lack of any significant explanation from its members, it proved very difficult to discern what was truth and what was fiction about Velvet Cacoon, but the group, which may only be composed of the frontman, Josh, eventually admitted to being a hoax.

Originally formed in 1997, Numen is an extreme music band coming from the Basque Country. They play black metal with some influences of the folk and traditional music of their land. All lyrics are written in euskera, their mother tongue, and they tell about old traditions, legends and mythology, always with a strong feeling against Christianity.

Bueno, esta es mi primera compilacion...estoy muy emocionada....
He escogido hacerla de Doom metal porque, aparte de que no hay mucha cultura doom en este blog (xP), me parece que este tipo de musica transmite mucho...tan pronto puedes estar triste como aparecerte una pequeña sonrisa con un riff que acompaña a la agonizante melodia.
He intentado equilibrar un poco el disco para que no produzca un poco de decaimiento a la persona que lo escuche, pero sobre todo, esta compi, hay que escucharla con tranquilidad, sintiendo las canciones. Tambien la recomiendo para todas esas noches tristonas que todos tenemos, ya que ayuda a relajarse y a mantener esa...aura de misterio y magia que la noche produce.
Bueno, y no me enrrollo mas, espero que os guste !!! la he hecho con toda mi tristeza y dulzura...porque asi es el doom metal :)

Hoy me siento bien. Si, bien. Asi que os traigo probablemente una de las "sagas" mas famosas dentro de todo el Metal extremo, un bonito 2x1: la saga "Crimson" de Edge Of Sanity. Se compone de un primer disco "Crimson" del año 1996, que esta compuesto de una unica canción impresionante "Crimson" de 40 minutos... una obra maestra. El segundo disco "Crimson II" de 2003 se compone de 9 canciones, pero entre ellas forman un todo. A mi personalmente me gusta mas la segunda parte... pero juzgad vosotros!!

Moonsorrow - Tulimyrsky

New Ep of this amazing,and best band of Epic heathen metal,or viking metal for someone..
Tulimyrsky (meaning "firestorm") is the fantastic new EP from the Finnish "epic heathen metal" band Moonsorrow. Although it is classified as an EP, its total playing time is over an hour long, primarily due to the one new song on the disc, "Tulimyrsky." At an epic half-hour length, "Tulimyrsky" features the epic builds and anthemic progressions Moonsorrow are best known for.

The remaining tracks on the disc are a cover of Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls" (which, it could be argued, Moonsorrow successfully make their own), two re-recorded songs from their early demos, and a cover of Merciless' "Back To North" which certainly does not sound out of place on a Moonsorrow disc.

The band's talent for writing gloriously epic extreme metal is unmatched, in my opinion, and I personally cannot wait for the next full-length album.
Must heard it.

Moonsorrow,They are known for their extremely long songs and epic, organic composition. The band call their sound "Epic heathen metal" and try to distance themselves from the term "Viking metal" as much as possible, due to their lyrics not concerning Vikings. Their lyrics are heavily based on Finnish and Scandinavian traditions, legends and poetry, even though they are written in Finnish. A good example is the song Sankaritarina, which features lyrics directly translated from the Havamal.

Forest Stream is a symphonic black / doom / Gothic metal band formed in Chernogolovka, Russia in 1995. The band draws inspiration from long and harsh Russian winters. Kalmah - For The Revolution

Absolutely recommended!! Kalmah is a band from Finland. They are influenced by a high velocity brand of European Melodic Death Metal similar to that of metal bands like At The Gates, The Winter Massacre, and Dark Tranquillity. The quintet formed in the autumn of 1999 following the demise of its first incarnation, Ancestor. In less than a year after its birth, Kalmah was signed by Spikefarm Records, a division of the Finnish label Spinefarm.

Windir - 1184

Windir (Warrior in English) was a folkloric black metal band from Sogndal, Norway. The band combined black metal with Norwegian folk music and mythology. The band was formed in 1994, but did not release an album until 1997. Windir was a project of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Terje "Valfar" Bakken.

Windir produced four albums in their almost ten years of existence, each more complex and successful than the last. The band broke up when Valfar died of hypothermia amidst the hills of Sogndal on January 14, 2004.

Many of Windir's lyrics are written in the local dialect Sognamål.
This album is one the best qualified in metalreviews...good sound indeed.

Otyg is a Folk music/Viking metal band from Sweden, featuring Andreas Hedlund, the frontman for Vintersorg.

During their existence, Otyg released several albums with songs written in traditional Scandinavian folk style, and featuring traditional Scandinavian instuments not frequently heard in traditional "metal" music, such as the keyed fiddle and willow flute. Currently, though, the band is still in existence, it is on hold owing to Andreas Hedlund's lack of inspiration for further projects relating to the band.A amazing band..

Skyforger - Kauja Pie Saules (The Battle of Saule)

Pagan/Folk Metal band from Rīga, Latvia. Formed in 1995 out of the remains of doom metal band Grindmaster Dead. They released their first demo ‘Semigalls’ Warchant’ in 1997, this one is released full length(three additional songs) in 2005. Most of their songs are about pagan gods, war and warfare, as well as traditional Latvian folk songs and their metal covers. Skyforger mostly plays folk/pagan metal, although their forth album Zobena Dziesma (Swordsong), released in 2003, was a pure folk album.
