Esp: En esta compi he querido meter principalmente grupos desconocidos para demostrar que se puede hacer una gran compilacion sin usuar apenas ninguno de los grupos popularmente extendidos. La he dividido en unas tres partes una primera viking mas melodica la parte black variando gradualmente y la parte viking cebada terminando con dos canciones para el relax y asimilación. Espero que alguien se aficione a alguna de estas bandas a raiz de oir este album y no olvideis que todos los discos que contienen estas canciones estan subidos en el mes de enero y es en ello en lo que se basa esta tipo de compilacion que sea la mas especial de todas las que hacemos y la original, aunque luego se nos fueron ocurriendo otro tipo de comps.

Ancient Rites - Dim Carcosa

Ancient Rites is a Belgian black metal band formed in early 1989. Initially, the line- up consisted of guitar players Johan and Phillip, drummer Stefan, and Gunther Theys on bass and vocals. In 1990 the Dark Ritual demo was released in the underground scene, getting worldwide attention just as black metal was gaining importance in the metal scene. Soon after the release of this demo Phillip died in a car crash and not long after, Stefan committed suicide. However painful this episode was to the band, they decided to continue and Stefan's position was taken by his drum roadie Walter Van Cortenberg.

Darkthrone - F.O.A.D.

Darkthrone was originally formed as a Death Metal band, under the name Black Death in 1986. Several demo tapes were recorded, which eventually caught the interest of the English label Peaceville, who signed them under a four-album contract. Black Death later changed their name to Darkthrone and recorded their debut album Soulside Journey in 1991. Ravensblood - From the Tumulus Depths

Ravensblood was born during summer 2001. This french horde performs a fast and brutal black metal with pagan lyrics. After some line-up changes, the two remaining members (CG: vocals and SC: instruments) recorded their first demo called "A New Blizzard Shall Come" which has recently been re-released as a split tape with Memorial through Ewiger Hass Productions (by the way it was limited to only 150 copies and is sold out for now). Now, mightier than ever thanks to the furious vocals of Wolfnacht (Ornaments Of Sin), the band releases its first album: "From The Tumulus Depths" (both CD and gatefold picture LP versions has been released through Christhunt Productions).

Changed name in 2006 to Hybrid but actually didnt exist.

Bathory - Blood Fire Death

Bathory was the project of the now deceased Tomas "Ace" Börje Forsberg (Quorthon), who lived from 22 February 1966 - 3 June 2004 and died of heart failure. Bathory was a landmark band in the history of black metal. Most second wave black metal bands were influenced by the ground work laid by Bathory.
Around the late 80s, Bathory changed its style from black metal to what was later known as viking metal, mixing epic music with nordic themes and viking influences, while retaining its black metal roots.

Helrunar - Frostnacht

Helrunar is a Black Metal band from Münster/Osnabrück, Germany. It's one of the few bands that could already convince with their first demo, which is called "Grátr" and was released in 2003. In 2005 a split ep with Nachtmahr followed and later that year they release their first album "Frostnacht" which is a must have for every black metal fan! Their music is atmospheric and melancholic but aggressive as well.

Eisregen - Blutbahnen

Eisregen is a German, lyrically extreme, dark metal band which was founded in 1994. The members are from Tambach-Dietharz, a village in Thüringen (Thuringia).

Immortal - Battles In The North

Immortal is a prominent black metal band from Bergen, Norway. The group began in 1989 as "Amputation", a death metal band. Immortal's early full-length releases were of a traditional, yet complex black metal style, but their acclaimed album At the Heart of Winter saw the band begin to experiment with a fusion of black metal and German thrash. The resulting sound was a style which characterized Immortal's later works. Immortal has been influential to many modern metal artists.

Sigh - Hangman´s Hymn

Sigh is one of the most original and influential still-active black metal bands; their fame stretches far beyond their home land of Japan. In their early days, their main influences included bands such as Venom, Celtic Frost, the more popular Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath as well as horror movies soundtracks. Having initially played pretty 'classical' black metal, over the past 17 years they have been continuously changing and improving their sound. The wide variety of their songs includes thrash metal, epic tracks filled with synthesizers. and even psychedelic songs with clear 70's influences. They were also amongst the first black metal bands to extensively use the keyboards.

They don't play live very often. One of the reasons is the fact that during recording, they often use a large number of instruments, even such unusual (for a metal band) ones such a sitar, mellotron, or saxophone.

Subway To Sally - Bastard

Subway to Sally was founded in Potsdam, Germany, in the early 1990s. It is a rock band with clear folk and medieval influences, later also with gothic and metal elements added to the mix. With their continuous inclusion of oriental sounds and elements of classical music (noted for instance by the use of the arrangements of the backup vocals) and the use of instruments less frequently seen in metal bands, such as bagpipes, shawm, violin, hurdy-gurdy and lute, the band has acquired the label of medieval metal.

Alestorm - Captain Morgan's Revenge

A really surprising band from Scotland. They have made a similar thing than the one Turisas did with their "Battle Metal". Turisas created Battle Metal, but Alestorm have created PIRATE METAL!!! It's a really cool mixture of Power Metal, incredible melodies and a lot of pirate shouts!! Really cool album, you should take it. The best of 2008 so far. Hope you like it!!

Tristwood - The Delphic Doctrine

Tristwood is an Industrial Death/Black Metal band from Innsbruck, Tyrol in Austria. The band was originally founded in 1996 by Deimon and Neru who were the first two for forming under the name December. Their early MCD demo, Torment that was recorded in January, 1997 managed to get great sales under their original genre of Black Metal however after recording they disbanded for several years until 2001 when Neru and Jegger decided to reform the band under the name Tristwood.
